Medicare Advantage Plan

EMCC Benefits specializes in marketing the new Medicare Advantage (MA) program currently in the states of Georgia, South Carolina, New York, and Texas.  The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is now set at November 15th to December 31st each year.  The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) for medicare beneficiaries to enroll and change their plans is January 1st to March 31st each year.  Residents of several counties in your state will be able to enroll in a plan at no additional cost to them and at very low cost in others counties.

Medicare beneficiaries can also enroll in the new out patient Prescription Drug Program (PDP) at a low cost within the AEP.

An estimated 2 million newly eligible beneficiaries will be able to enroll in the program within 3 months of their 65th birth month each year.

In addition, eligible medicaid persons covered by Medicare Part A and Part B will be able to choose a Medicare Advantage (MA) plan between January 1st and December 31st each year.

End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)

If you have End-Stage Renal Disease, you usually cannot join a Medicare Health Plan (like an HMO or PPO). There are exceptions:

  • If you are already in a plan, you can stay in that plan or join another plan offered by the same company.
  • If you are already in a plan and the plan leaves Medicare or no longer provides coverage in your area, you have a one-time right to join another plan.
  • If you have had a successful kidney transplant, you may be able to join a plan.
  • If you live in an area where there is a Medicare Special Needs plan for people with ESRD, you can join that plan.
